Sail Away with Rogue Redhead

A simple card made with the new Beach Babes plate from Rogue Redhead Designs.


Stamped in blue onto a pale blue-grey base and then coloured with pencils, a couple of scraps of patterned paper, and that's it!!

late...for a very important date!

The theme at the Kraft Journal this week is to be inspired by movies, books or songs. Now, of course it had to be Alice in Wonderland, and as it also had to be the pencil colouring on kraft card technique (of course) which means an excessive use of white, well that means that it has to be The White Rabbit!!


and he's perfect for belated birthday cards!

the stamp is from non-sequiteur and was one of the first stamps I ever got.

Stampotique Challenge: make a bookmark

The new Stampotique Designers' challenge is to make a bookmark.

I chose to make mine a corner book mark. To make the basic bookmark I cut the corner off an envelope.
I decorated this with Stamps From Jo Capper-Sandon's range at Stampotique.


I added the ribbon so that it's easy to see the book mark when your book is closed.

By The Seaside for Happy Daze

I made this piece for this month's challenge theme beside the seaside.
I've made a really simple piece using starfish and words by Jo Capper-Sandon for Stampotique, and mesh from Scrolls Work.

I finished it with a scrap of blue vellum, a scrap of sandpaper and a few dots of liquid pearls

I am also entering this for The St Luke's Charity challenge (Oh I do like to be beside the seaside) and a last minute entry to the Kraft Journal's anything goes challenge.

I love making cushions

I have a real thing about cushions at the moment. One of the recent additions is one made from my son's favourite sweatshirt, when he grew out of it. I thought it was a nice touch to leave the pocket.

and another is a knitted cushion, with fancy cabling. I found this cable pattern in a magazine and thought it would look good on a cushion,

Alter a page in a book- stampotique challenge

This is my piece for the current Stampotique challenge. I'm not much of an altered book or journalling type of girl, but I decided to just alter a page in a notebook. I enjoyed this and may carry on doing it to practise techniques!

Gingersnap Baby Wipe challenge- baby wipe swipe

I made this for the gingersnap challenge to make a card using baby wipes.


To make the background I wrapped some babywipes around the edge of my acrylic block and dabbed it onto a multicoloured inkpad. I then wiped this across the card to make a simple but colourful effect. I then added lots and lots of stampotique stamps using the same inkpad.
I finished with a girl stamp and a hello for a general greeting.



yesterday's card was created using the same technique, but first I masked with post-it notes to create a strip and swiped the acrylic block-baby wipe-ink combo from one post it to the other. I then overstamped the dragonfly and greeting. I finished the card by embossing two straight lines using a scoring board.

The challenge at Created by Hand is Rainbow colours/wings. I decided to go with both for this simple One Layer thank you card using stamps from Stampotique

housework for Happy Daze

I made this card for the Happy Daze design Team blog.

I decided I needed to add some lost coast stamps to my collection and I had a browse of the happy daze shop and came across Housewife, which I knew I had to have.

I decided to make this card in chintzy housewife colours but with a not so housewife quote

Article in new Craft Stamper Magazine

I have the 5th part of my series on one layer cards in the issue of Craft Stamper which is out today.
In this "episode" I look at holes and apertures. In one of the "further idea" pieces I made confetti shaped holes, and I've been asked if they are hard to do.

They are not!

here's a quick tutorial of how to do them. This is not the card that is in the magazine, but a quick one made with a stamp from Stampotique.

to create confetti, use craft knife to make a wiggly cut


make another wiggly cut alongside this, crossing it once, twice, or more, if you like, or you can not cross them at all.


join the ends of the lines with cuts.

pop out the pieces

repeat process for more confetti


add more holes with a hole punch.

colour the image, and the inside of the card if desired.

GC113- babes and tots

For the current gingersnap theme, babes and tots, I decided to make a new baby card using the floating front method I did for Craft Stamper Magazine. I wanted to show that you didn't have to have a floating cut out image, but that it was a good way to mount tags too. The image is a forever friends stamp, coloured with pencils.

New Home Card

The theme at Moving Along With the Times is "brand spanking new" so I'm going to enter this simple new home card that I made for a friend using Stampotique stamps.


I decided to cut the inside of the row houses stamp out so that you can see into the card, where I stamped the sun (this took some very careful use of a stamp positioner!)


I stamped the image onto patterned papers and paper pieced the designs.

a rogue in my garden!

On the rogue redhead blog, Shar has challenged us to use pencils on kraft. ahem, hello!! how am I supposed to resist that one?


So I have made my card using Shar's stamps from Rogue redhead designs (relish reading plate) to make this card, which is also for The Kraft Jounal's "a walk in my garden theme"

The trick I use to achieve a sepia effect on kraft card, is to stamp the image in brown (versafine vintage sepia) and to make the images stand out, I always make sure I include white somewhere in the colouring.

To enhance this card I've added some touches of summer flower soft, it goes so well with this technique
