One layer wednesday : border stamps

I was inspired by Mustavcoffee to take part in the One layer Wednesday Challenge 17
Rules for OLW17 1. A one-layer card is defined as a single piece of cardstock folded in half. 2. Use a border stamp (or, if you don't have a border stamp, either create one by repeating a small stamp or consider this an excuse to go buy one!) Remember to keep embellishments to a minimum.

OMG how hard was this? I ruined 4 (yes four!!) perfectly good card blanks trying to get this right, and I'm still not happy with it, but after using after that much card I felt I should submit it! lol

The Stamps are by PaperArtsy, the quote is from one of the new Hotpicks stamps HP1008, and the border stamp is from a borders set.

TMTA : Top Hats

The theme at TMTA is top hats, so I decided to use this image from Scrolls Work stamps with the men in top hats to make this ATC.
The stamps used are Tim and Tom Travel, Sprocket, Measure up, Thingamajig and Sequence waste all from Scrolls Work

Scrolls Work Christmas and Hallowe'en

Here are a couple of cards I have made with stamps from Scrolls Work.
First of all a Hallowe'en card. I made the moon by masking off a circle and then inking up using a cotton wool ball and grey (versafine) ink. I removed the mask and then stamped with "sky" in grey ink to give the impression of clouds across the moon. Monique (the witch) was then stamped on a separate piece of white card , cut out and glued to the card. I finished with "trick or treat" stamped in black.


The christmas card is pretty straightforward. I used a page out of a notebook to stamp the words onto and the santa and the holly are coloured with whispers markers

On the frantic stamper blog today I have this card featured with full instructions and stamp credits. The tag and mannequin are from the frantic stamper's own range of stamps. Expect to see a lot more of the frantic stamper's own range on my blog as I have just placed a bumper order!

Can you believe this took an hour?

All I wanted was a simple thank you for a friend who had done me a favour. Something not too fussy. but nothing would come together until I ended up with this card, which I actually really like. But it would have taken 2 minutes if I had just started with this in the first place!!
Both stamps are from Scrolls Work.

PaperArtsy hair accessory

I keep seeing people with lovely flower hair accessories, and thinking, surely I could make one of those..
And then I was looking at the PaperArtsy Grungeflower dies and some white felt that I had bought for an unrelated project, and this hair accessory just sort of happened.
The dies cut the felt really neatly, although I did have to add a shim.
The middle layer is ribbon gathered along one edge, and all the layers are sewn together then attached to the clip using hot glue.

PaperArtsy Hot Pick 1009

Keep an eye on the Hotpicks stamps from PaperArtsy, as there are some exciting new releases coming up.
One of these is HP1009, which isn't on the website yet but I believe is available from selected retailers. You can see it on the PaperArtsy blog
I have made a couple of quick samples. That flower stamp is huge! the card is DL sized and that stamp nearly fills it! I also used the little flower from the same plate. The papers are also the PaperArtsy nut and meg range.

The second piece is just a decorated Jar. I thought that quote was just perfect for a little jar. I imagine it filled with Jelly beans..

forever friend: Easel Card

This week at Forever friends we challenge you to make an easel card. We have a fabulous sponsor, I am Roses.



I am really enjoying playing with the flowers that the team were sent, and decided to make my bear hold one of the roses (which come on the wire) I did this, by stamping the bear's arm again and sandwiching the stem between the two arms using silicon glue.


I have made my "stopper" flat to the card, and added a tab to my top piece which slots under the topper.

quick gift wrapping

You know how it is, you don't want to spend forever (or a fortune) wrapping a present (for someone who won't appreciate it) but you absolutely cannot just leave it just wrapped in paper.
Flowers are the perfect solution, and die cutting your flowers from your cheap supermarket wrapping paper (Morrison's) is even better. I used the two smaller grunge flower dies from PaperArtsy.

Free standing 3D letter

I made this card for my Son's birthday and as a sample for this week's gingersnap challenge: go 3D.
It is made with products available from the frantic stamper and will appear on the frantic stamper blog as a tutorial at a future date.

PaperArtsy Grungeflower #1 die and the x-cut impress

When I ordered the largest of the grunge flower dies, I had my doubts that it would fit through my little x-cut impress, but I went ahead an ordered it on the principle that one day I will have to order a bigger machine.

but today is not that day!!!

when I tried the die in the machine it was actually physically too big to even fit in the opening....darn!

but then I decided that I would not be beaten, it was so close to fitting that there must be a way.

so.... I found my trusty tin snips (why do I own tin snips? well, put it this way, it's not the first time I bought a die that wouldn't fit)

so now it was slimmer it fit through the opening, but was still fractionally too large for the plates.

I did consider try to make bigger plates, but then I hit on a much simpler idea, just run it through twice.

place the die with the edge up to one edge of the plate, run it through,

then slide it across to the other edge and run it through again.

and Voila! it works perfectly.

Now I have to decide what I'm going to create with it!!

final scrapling... for the US host

I couldn't resist making just one more, this time for the US host of the swap, Ali.
All the stamps are from Scrolls Work. I used Cattails, sky and grass.

I enjoyed making the paintchip scraplings so much yesterday that I decided to make another one. This time for the UK host of the swap, Laura.
As soon as I saw the name of the colours on this paintchip I knew what stamps I would be using. The name is "honey Drizzle" so I had to use Jo's Bee from Stampotique. All of the other stamps are also from Jo's range (available from Happy Daze)
(By the way, have you seen Jo's new range? I'm very excited that she has done a Hallowe'en word stamp... with the apostrophe!!!! It's little things like that that make me happy!!)

Paintchip Scraplings

I have made these for a swap on the gingersnap yahoo group. if you are interested in taking part the details are here.
I have used 11 different stamps to make these and they are all taken from the new Hotpicks range at PaperArtsy.

I trimmed my paintchips so that the names of the paints are left on, as I really like the names.

on"heather bloom" I used the film frame and masked it so I could stamp part of the eiffel tower picture inside it. I also distressd the edges of the paint chip with my scissors.

Wings, Wings Wings

The challenge at Stampotique is Wings Wings Wings. I decided to use my new Bird die from PaperArtsy. but rather than cut a shape to stamp onto I decided to use it to make an aperture.
Now the only problem with that is that I only have the x-cut (double do ) die cutter. Now the dies work pefectly in the machine, so no problem there. The problem is that the opening in the machine is only 3 inches wide. so I could only make a card 3 inches high. but of course I could make it as long as I liked, so this was the result.
I have stamped one of the matching bird stamps from HP1007 onto purple card to go inside. The swirl inside the card is from the same plate, and the background on the front of the card is from HP1006. The words are from Petals Plate 1.

gingersnap creations : paint

The theme this week at Gingersnap is paint. I enjoyed making the little "squishing" background on this card. I took two small squares of glossy white card, randomly splodged acrylic paint onto one of them and then squished them together allow excess paint to ooze out of the sides. I then quickly pulled them apart to add texture and left to dry. I then simply over stamped one with the quote from scrolls work and mounted onto the card.
Of course you are also left with another similar background to play with.

forever friends: not a card but use a charm

I decided to make a memory book for a friend who has just had a baby boy. The charm says "made with love" as that's how babies should be made ;)

The tag was so that I would have somewhere to write, but also doubles as a book mark.
