ReplyDeleteI was in Borders in Oxford today and on their noticeboard of what was on each floor someone had spelt the word staionery on this laminated board with an "a"! How wrong is that!!!
Am with you all the way Joanne....I am a right stickler for the apostrophe and it really bugs me when it is left out....p'raps I am a little old fashioned but it's only right and proper LOL xx
ReplyDeleteI believe the origin of the word is from All Hallow's Eve, or something like that (I didn't Google), so Hallowe'en with the apostrophe is the right spelling, because it is a concatenation of two words. But somewhere along the way, the apostrophe got dropped.
