less is more: washi tape

This week's theme at Less Is More is Washi Tape. You can either use some you've bought or improvise. I've seen people make it before with surgical tape and wanted to have a go. I had some lovely fresco chalk finish paints to play with from PaperArtsy, and I'm experimenting with the different types (opaque, semi-opaque and translucent.)

I had a scraggy bit of micropore tape, so I stuck it to my cutting mat

and sponged on the translucent blood orange. I then stamped the opaque sky blue,

using this swirl stamp (one of my favourites from PaperArtsy)

and then did the same with this splatter (another fave).

Then I stamped this script (yet another fave) in black ink.

 close- up

I used this to make a card using another PaperArtsy stamp (all of the stamps I have used have been from the  hotpicks sets) and the splatter again. I stamped the flower under the tape, but the splatters over it.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out. I'll definitely be trying it again.

less is more: round and round

This week at Less is More the theme is "round and round"

I used these really cool cogs from PaperArtsy as well as some of their paints

The crisp edges of the paint are created with post-it notes.

less is more: Colour Challenge

I really likes the colour combination for this week's Less is More Challenge. So I decided to make a quick One-Layer Card (although it isn't One Layer Week).
This is the colour combination

My Card is made using Mustard Seed and Pumice Stone Distress Ink and Smokey Grey Versafine Ink.

All of the Stamps are from PaperArtsy.  The Paris Stamp is a Mini, and The Splatter and Script are from Hotpicks (1006 and Extra 06) but there are similar minis that would do the same Job

less is more - need for speed

Wow, it's ages since I last blogged. Where does the time go?
Anyway I liked this weeks theme at Simply Less is More for One Layer Week.
I took a slightly ironic look at the theme, need for speed, with this belated birthday card.

For a bit of interest I added stickles glitter glue for the snail trail, and glossy accents for the shell.

less is more: use beads

It's less is more time. This week the challenge is to use beads. My original idea was to use beads in the centre of flowers, but then I made these roses using PaperArtsy dies. (I didn't use them exactly how they are designed, I'll explain another time how I did them)

The beads didnt work in the centre of these flowers so instead I just used them as decoration around the flowers.
The message is a docrafts embossing folder which I used on the same tye of card as the base card, trimmed and lightly inked with tea dye distress ink.

less is more: Frame it

This week's challenge at Less is More is to use frames. Of course the card still has to be clean and simple.
I made my frame using two dies from PaperArtsy, I inked and stamped the frame with this stamp and the sentiment is from this set.

I finished with a simple ribbon tied around the frame. I'm thinking now that this card would work well using patterned paper to make the frame.

less is more: spots and stripes

I love this week's challenge at less is more it's one layer week AND spots and stripes.

I've made my spots and stripes without any stamps. I masked of areas for the stripes and dragged an ink pad along them. I then created the spots just using the eraser end of a pencil and the same ink pads.

I've finished with a simple sentiment stamp from PaperArtsy

New PaperArtsy Stamps

There's lots of exciting things happening at PaperArtsy with several new stamp ranges being released. Keep an eye on the PaperArtsy blog for more info.

I was lucky enough to receive these lovely stamps from Lin Brown's collection a few days prior to release, and have made a few quick samples. I love the handcarved appearance of these stamps.

I also combined them with a few of my other favourite PaperArsty stamps for the next couple of cards

Less is more 104:sketch

Here's a really simple card for the sketch challenge at less is more this week. The paper is from a huge k&co pack that seems to go on forever. I created the shape by tearing it against a fiskars template. A stamp some velvet ribbon. Job done.

Happy New Year

A very happy new year to all. I've gone a bit quiet on my blog in 2012 but intend to pick things up a bit in 2013. I've made this new year card for the less is more challenge, where the theme is "drinks". It's a one layer card, using lots of masking with post-it notes. The martini glass is from VAP and the bubbles and numbers are from  PaperArtsy.

Last minute sewing gift : handbag tissue pouch

I was having a look on pinterest today for some last minute presents to make when I found this pattern for a really easy pouch for pocket tissues made from scraps of fabric. Took me about half an hour to make these two.

I'm back in time for christmas

I can't believe how long it is since I have blogged, but it's time to start thinking about christmas cards, so I thought I'd share this reaaaaaallly basic one layer card that I made today. The stamps are from Crafty individuals (this is a great stamp sheet for christmas, there's so much on it)

I've used crushed olive distress ink, black arcvival and loose glitter (so now I'm all sparkly too)
