TGiF: the colour white

The theme at TGif is the colour white. I was really pleased about this as I have recently purchased this broderie anglais effect white backing paper and the fab new polar white flower soft. I used them with the gorgeous soft image from the stampsmith, and I have also posted this card on the stampsmith blog.
I hope you can see the effect of the flower soft.




I have also used the flower soft on this card made using products from PaperArtsy. The stamp is from a winter wonderland plate, the paper is from the brand new rum and raisn pack, which is gorgeous (one of those packs which you don't want to cut into, but luckily you get four of each sheet, and they are double sided). Even the lovely ribbon is from PaperArtsy

less is only more when more is no good

I made this ATC for the Kings and Queens theme at TMTA. I often like to make quite simple pieces but I got a bit carried away on this one, so I felt I had to fit the quote on somewhere, so I used some shrink plastic to squeeze it in. As I was so determined to use this quote I am also entering this for TGiF's word theme, and theme thursday's ATC theme

A very long post!!

Had a good crafting day today, my fingers are covered in ink and glue to prove it.
First of all I have made a card for TGIF, where the theme is apples pears and peaches.



Then I have made a baby card, using the mother and baby klimt image. I have, however cropped it to remove the "nipular" area, so as not to offend anyone! I have included a close up of this to show the silver highlights. The heart says "made with love" very appropriate for a baby card, don't you think. The blue edging to this is actually a cover up, it was going to be a really simple card but then I dropped some bue ink on it, so I made a feature of it



next is another skate card, seriosly I don't know what I would do without these stamps. This one is for Ben (hence the giant B)

And finally, here is a coaster card, I have made for the PaperArtsy DT. (because I have had a pile of coasters given to me) All the stamps, paper and ribbons are from PaperArtsy

finally!

I finally got round to making the 2 inch tiles for my own set. My colours were cream and sepia with touches of black. These actually turned out a lot simpler than I had planned. The base is corrugated cardboard which I have painted. I then stamped the background with a paperartsy background script stamp and crafty individuals wildflowers stamps. The collage images are by Inka.
I have decided to enter these for TGiF's Childhood theme.

TGIF umbrella

You know how it is, when you use a jar of sauce when you are cooking, and it's just too nice a shape to throw in the recycling? It happens to me so often. I decided to make a jar for all those bits of change that get left in various piles around the house and tie it in with TGIF's umbrella theme, and make it "for a rainy day" money.
I stamped the glass with a crackle stamp, added a lock stamp to the lid (to cover up the "best before date".

TGIF secret garden

The theme at TGIF is Secret garden, hosted by Jo Capper-Sandon
I made this bookmark using inka stamps and collage image.
The pressed flower and leaves are from Joanna sheen, and I have covered the front of the piece in clear sticky back plastic to protect the flowers.

well what would you do with a child free hour?

This card came about because my husband and I had a child free hour this afternoon, so what did we do with the time? well some colouring in of course!! My husband had been admiring my colouring on his valentine card so I said I'd show him how I did it as he likes to draw manga. Then I remembered that I had this fab manga stamp from DewDrop crafts. So we had fun with coloursoft pencils and sansodor! It seemed a waste to not make something with the result of my colouring so I made this to fit with the wednesday stamper challenge (to use hearts in a different way, I used two punched hearts to make a bow to match the one in her hair) and TGIF (The number 13, I thought this would make a suitable card for a 13 year old's birthday)

The pink isn't quite so bright in real life (but almost)

TGIF books (and matchbook tutorial)

I'm really honoured to be the guest host at TGIF this week, where the theme is books, also one of my favourite themes as I love to use book pages in my work.
I made a matchbook notebook like this for my second piece in this months stamping contrasts article in craft stamper magazine, but as it was my second piece I didn't really get much space to explain how I did it, so I thought I would include full instructions here if anyone is interested.






materials: card, paper, trimmer, scorer, stapler, adhesive



trim a strip from the card (size isn't really important, it depends how big you want your notebook to be)



score 3 small strips of equal size.



fold up as shown


bend down the cover so that it overlaps the fold a little, not all the way as you need to allow room for stapling.


and fold


cut paper smaller than the cover for pages


open out and lay pages so they lie against the first score line, on the right side of the card (i.e. the side that will show on the outside of the book)


staple in place


the staples should be close to the bottom of the page (gives more room for the cover.) do not worry about stapling neatly, you will not see the staples


turn over and apply adhesive to back of first scored bit


fold up so the adhesive sticks this bit down.


you can now close the notebook and decorate at will

Woof

My original inspiration for this was to make a stripy background using adirondack dabbers,and crackle paint, so I thought I'd make something for Tag you're it's stripy challenge. I also fancied TGIF's dog challenge so I used this image from Inka. As the child and dog are wearing newspaper hats I thought I would use newspaper as an embellishment, and this is the theme at Lots To Do Challenges.

artygirlz also have anything but a card as a theme so I thought I could enter this tag. I hve also just entered this for Mixed Media Monday's challenge which is friendship as this quote to me is what friendship is all about.

santa claus is coming to town

The theme at TGIF is Santa Claus is coming to town and the theme at wednesday stamper is Bows, so I've made this card for both. The santa image is from Inka, stamps are from stampington and Inka

strut your stuff

The other quote I thought of for this card was "I feel like chicken tonight!"
I love this image, it makes me smile. I made this Card for Karin's birthday. I was trying out the core-dinations cardstock, which has a complimentary core that your can reveal by tearing or sanding.

paperclip bookmark

I have made this for two of this week's challenges. The theme at One Powerful Hour is bookmarks, and the theme at TGIF is hats.

TGIF shoes

The theme at TGIF is shoes. I decided to use some of the most famous shoes of all, santa's boots. these come as part of a set from Inka that include his jacket on a coathanger as well. but I just decided to use the boots for this card. I have coloured with pencils and sansodor, glossy accented the boots and glittered the furry bits (come on, you can't turn your nose up at glitter at christmas, lol) This is a really simple card, as I am getting into that "OH no! how many christmas cards do I need to make?" stage. The red dots are punched with a normal 1/4 inch hole punch out of red card and then glossy accented. The papers are Anita's black and white christmas papers.

more wearable "art"

One of my friends has just had a baby girl and has named her Lillie. An unusual name, so I thought it would be nice to create her a unique baby vest (onesie) with her name on. I know she is going to be treated like a complete princess so I thought it would be cute to do a Princess Lillie vest. I embroidered the name and stamped the Princess word, the crown and the flowers in versacraft. I also stamped the cute phrase on the back "Don't treat me any differently than you would the queen" I have sewn on some beads on the front as all princesses need a little bling. I am entering this for This thursday it's all about's stashbuster theme as I have had these beads for years. I am also entering it fot TGiF's free theme.

TGIF

The theme at TGIF is earth colours, I have just done this little bit of "mail art" which I think fits the theme. all of the stamps are inka except the lettering at the bottom.
it is all sparkle embossed which I hope help it survive if it gets a lttle damp in the postman's hands.

TGIF quotations

I don't have anywhere near as many quotation stamps as I would like, but I have a few. I have had this one for ages as part of a sunflower set from chapel road art stamps. I don't know who the lady is by, she was a gift. if anyone happens to know....

TGIF paper rests

The theme ar TGIF is paper rests,
not a phrase I am familiar with, but on reading I assume it means the same as paper scraps.
I made this christmas hanging skinny! I don't normally think about christmas this early but I recently got this little girl (Rachel) from Inka, all wrapped up nice and warm, which seemed to go so well with the "let it snow" phrase I already had.
one of my favourite ways of using scraps of paper is paper piecing, i.e stamping onto scraps and joining the bits up, and that's how I did this outfit. Even the white was scraps from the back of a card that had gone wrong. Even the blue paper was a leftover just the right size.
I have made this "skinny" size, and added a ribbon so it can hang.
