gingersnap creations: alcohol inks

The new challenge at gingersnaps is to use alcohol inks. to be honest I don't use mine very often, but I don't know why.

To make this card I stamped Carol's flower from Stampotique onto acetate with stazon, then on the reverse I applied various colours of ranger alcohol inks with a blending tool. I then glued this to the card, to which I had already added a ribbon (by threading through the card), glued on a button.

gingersnap: from the mall

From the Mall, is the current challenge at gingersnap creations.
"mall"- not a word we Brits use, but I think I know what it means, I watch enough American telly. Anyway, I took this challenge to mean anything from a shopping trip. So I used this label from some clothes, and used it to make a card.

I've used girl with the heart purse, from stampotique. She was my first ever stampotique stamp. I used her to enter a stampotique challenge and wons some more stamps, that's how it started, and now I'm on their DT, talking of which this card would actually qualify for the current acetate challenge, but I can't enter that as I'm on the DT.

I attached the tag to the card with an eyelet.

SDC31- Acetate

the stampotiqe designers challenge this week is to use Acetate. it's a Stampotique Stamps only challenge but there's a fabulous prize to be won.

I used Sunny stamped on white card and coloured with pencils. I used a "scrapling" of acetate. ie the bit left over when I trimmed an A6 acetate card down to a square.

I swiped blue acrylic paint across it with a sponge to create a background.

LIM acetate: blowing bubbles

This week's challenge at the fabulous Less Is More is to use Acetate. I love acetate cards. I like how you can make things appear to float, so I thought it would be perfect for this elephant with bubbles from lili of the valley. I have embssed the corner with a fiskars embossing plate, glittered the bubbles with stickes and added a strip of paper along the bottom.

On the reverse of this there is a strip of white card (inside the card) so that you can write a (very small) message.

edit: I forgot to say the elepant and bubbles are coloured with coloursoft pencils onto white card, then cut out and glued to the card (a couple of people have asked)

glitter... it's like gold dust!

literally, not figuratively!! it's dusty and it's gold.

The theme at Keep it simple (where I made the top three last week, whahhooooo!) is gold dust. I decided to use fine gold glitter. I don't use loose glitter very often, and now I remember why, lol. it's everywhere!! And, it's so hard to photograph!

I decided to make an acetate card. The stamps are all by scrolls work. I don't know if you can easily tell the gold stars are stuck inside the card.

summer, summer, summer time...

The theme at the stampotique challenge is what summer means to you. for this particular challenge you don't have to use stampotique stamps, but for me Jasmin sums up what summer's all about, laying on the grass daydreaming amongst the flowers.

I am also entering this for a few other challenges:
Tag tuesday- a few of my favourite things, as there are quite a few of my favourite things on this tag: acetate, torn paper, ribbon, Jo's Jasmin stamp and her fabulously quirky daisies. Also I have used my current favourite method of colouring, simple pencils, as well as a simple clean style.

Gingersnap: transparencies

Mixed media monday: floral tributes

The stamps I used are Jo's stamps from Stampotique, available in the UK from Happy Daze.

bird card which was meant to be a tag.

I originally started making this for the tag it on challenge which is "up, up and away", but somewhere along the way I forgot that was making a tag and it turned into a card. The stamp is from The Artistic Stamper. The background is done using the technique Jo showed in this month's craft stamper. I have used real dried flowers on this card so I have attached it to the back of the acetate with eyelets to protect them.
I am also sending this in for the current Art Raffle theme.

Don't forget it's Day three of PaperArtsy's 12 day of christmas with lots of samples and a giveaway, don't miss out!

a few challenges..

I decided to see if I could combine the challanges for ready steady stamp:
Wednesday stamper (Ride) and Tag it on (time flies). I'm pretty sure this piece satisfies all of them!
The main image is by Inka, the clock is non-sequitur and the quote is from Paperbag studios

ready steady stamp

another new challange, ready steady stamp. At first I didn't think this was for me as there are so many rules

and on top of that "NO CUTE ALLOWED"
now I actually think this cat is pretty cute, but as the challenge actually states they like PaperArtsy, I think I'll get away with it.

The background circles (which I have used for the faux batik) are also by PaperArtsy. I have mounted the bunting piece onto an acetate card

(I think I may have got the faux batik wrong as it was supposed to be done on text paper, but I didn't do too bad)

cute and colourful

The theme at wednesday stamper is colourful. The date stamp and bird are snag'em stamps, the message on the front is from Inka and the stamps inside are "assorted" I thought the pink and yellow combo was quite colourful!

forever friends: torn edges

It was my turn to chose the theme at the forever friends challenge this week, so I chose the theme "torn edges". I made a tag with lots of torn edges and a torn flower and attached it to an acetate base card.

Announcement

It really saddens me to pass on this news but Inka has decided, after a lot of deliberation to go out of business. She will be having a huge going out of business sale to reduce her inventory so don’t miss out and tell your friends too. The savings will be anywhere from 60% to 75% off all the rubber. The sale will start May 1 and run this month or until her inventory has been sufficiently reduced.

She will still be selling her collage sheets and patterns from time to time on ebay or etsy but this will be your last chance to get any of her rubber. It will be on a first come first served basis so if there is something you would like now is the time. She will continue with her art and with her blog candy once she has completed the sale so please don’t forget to check back next month.

I have absolutely loved being on the Inka design team, and I will miss it so much. But I have made some good friends and played with a lot of stamps.

Crazy Amigos, forever friends and my messy desk!

The theme at Crazy Amigos is "colourful vintage" so I thought I would enter this Card I made for Jo's birthday. It's an Acetate card so of course it's near impossible to get a good photo, lol. Don't you just love this Image? isn't she just the cutest? The Image and stamps are all by Inka.

We have a sketch challenge, set by Emma, at the forever friends challenge this week, so this is my piece (I just realised, I used the same papers for both of these cards, just goes to show you, if it's on your desk you will use it.)

Talking of my desk, after I took the photo of the forever friends card, I realised that you would never guess the mess surrounding that picture, so I thought I would show that as well.

st patricks day

This is my 3rd piece as guest designer for the forever friends challenge
.
And look!! I have a new forever friends stamp!I have coloured the bear and heart with derwent colour soft pencils and sansodor and added a little bit of whisper pen for depth. I have then done a little bit of decoupage to raise the heart. The floral stitching on the acetate is a doodlebug rub on.

As it is almost entirely green I am also entering this for Wednesday Stampers' green challenge and stamp something's something green challenge

oriental tag

I decided to combine the challenges from Saturday's workout (gesso background) and Created by hand (red/pink) as well as have a play with some stamps from Inka that I haven't really had much chance to play with yet.
The birdcage is on acetate, and the embellishment is a button filled with glossy accents and beads.

all stamps by Inka

One powerful hour

This week I am delighted to be the guest designer on one powerful hour challenge. I chose the theme of christmas ornaments, because christmas cards are on our minds at the moment, but sometimes it's just fun to play with your christmas stuff and make something different.

This is made from one stamp, from Inka. stamped onto acetate and cut into a heart and then stamped onto card, cut out and coloured.

Inka has offered the stamp I used a a gift for one lucky participant in the challenge. All you have to do is take part in this week's one powerful hour challenge for a chance to win it. That's worth an hour of anyone's time, don't you think? :)
This is the stamp you could win:

as I have used a cherub stamp on this I am also entering it as a second entry for this week's wednesday stamper theme of angels, and also as an entry for Crazy amigos Heart theme

I have also made another piece, as my entry for this week. also with Inka stamps. I have used the mirrored cardinals. Of course we don't have cardinals in Britain, but they are so pretty. I guess the are the american version of the robin redbreast.

I'd like to thank Carrie for the inspiration for the wire bird cage. of course it's not a patch on the ones that she makes!

blog candy, and a TMTA

I received my Design Team package today from Inka and found that she had sent me the beautiful flake set of stamps.

I already had this set so I am giving away my new set as blog candy!

The stamps can be seen in use on this ATC I have made for TMTA, where the theme is staples. I decided to use the staples to attach this gorgeous Acetate image, and the poem that I stamped onto acetate.
The backgound is a thick layer of gesso, which I stamped into with a crackle stamp for texture.
I have stamped and embossed the snowflakes onto the image.

To be in with a chance of winning this set of snowflake stamps, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I will do a draw (using a random number generator) monday 3rd November at 9pm GMT. I will also include this ATC as part of the prize, but don't let that put you off!!

saturday workout

The theme at saturday workout is "take your acetate"
I thought I would enter this VERY simple card that I made with the stamp that came free with craft stamper a couple of months ago. I also made a simple acetate tag to accompany it. I love using acetate as a base as it always looks a bit different to other cards.

Lillie's Card

to go with the vest I decorated I have made this card. I used the template from stampers sampler june/july 2006 to make the baby dress. The message goes inside the dress, so I have just mounted it onto acetate, so it stands but the dress is really the card.

Jackie's birthday card

I made this card for Jackie's birthday, amd on a quick trawl of the challenge sites I've found it fits three of the current challenges!
1. Theme thursday, the theme is hats
2. Arty girlz, the theme is a hint of pink
3. Created by Hand, the theme is fancy paper.

The girl is Erica from Inka stamps (look! she's not holding anything, I've been guilted into giving her little arms a rest) ,the hat is also by Inka. The "fancy paper" is my favourite papermania set- retro floral. This card all came about because I wanted to play with the circle cutter I bought back in march and hadn't used. I love it!
The dress and hat are stamped onto the same papers as the background and cut out.
I think you can tell from the photo that the main card is acetate. I am starting to get the hang of photographing acetate cards!
