inchie masterboard technique

On the Gingersnap blog there is a turtorial for a really easy inchie masterboard technique.
Here's my version
I stamped A4 white card all over with stamps from PaperArtsy

I inked this in stripes with distress inks (which I spritsed with water to blend a little)

I cut the card into strips and then used an inchie punch to make the squares. To complete the card I added words, a starfish punched shape and some black raffia.

Inchy by Inch - Guest host

This week I am the guest host on the Inchy by Inch challenge blog, which you may have seen featured in this month's craft stamper magazine.
I chose my theme as "text". I hope lots of people take part.
My Inchie uses a stamp from the stampsmith so I am also featuring it on the stampsmith blog.

I have also used a little bit of flower soft on this piece

inchie mobile phone charm

I've made this piece for 3 challenges, firstly, UK art raffle is back with the theme summer, what could be more summery than the rose fairy? (from Crafters companion), secondly, Created by hand's theme is Inchies, so I made a shrink plastic inchie (I had to do the "shrink plastic ruler" thing first). Then I realised that TMTA's theme is in the garden, which this fit perfectly, however it's not an ATC, no problem. I just mounted it on an ATC size card, (me? cheat? of course!)
The image is coloured with distress inks and perfect pearls

inchie card

The theme at small world of inchies and twinchies is to make a card from inchies or twinchies. This card was very much inspired by the work of Cindy Lyles at Starlit studio I love Cindy's beautiful clean style and all of her work is inspiring, but most of all I love Inchie thursday, where every thursday she comes up with a beautiful way of using inchies.

after digging out my fiskars plates the other day, I also decided to dig out my very first craft tool, my fiskars shapeboss. that's what I used for the snowflake pattern. The snowman stamp is from stampendous

I am also adding this to this weeks inchy by inch challenge as the theme is snow

Remember, Remember..

..The fifth of november,
Gunpowder Treason and plot.
I see no reason, why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

A special post for all the british readers of this blog. Tonight is of course Bonfire night. For those non-brits who have no idea what this is about,it is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November 1605 in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, England.

It is primarily marked in the United Kingdom where it was compulsory, by Royal Decree, to celebrate the deliverance of the King until 1859.

Children were taught the rhyme, so that they would learn what would happen if they committed treason. Guy fawkes was of course executed.

The evening is nowadays celebrated by bonfires, huge firework displays (or little displays in the back garden, mostly consisting of trying to write your name with sparklers), and hot food, on what is predictably a very cold evening. Traditionally a "guy" ( a person made from old clothes and straw) is made by children and burnt on the bonfire. Children used to make the guy and stand in the street with asking for "a penny for the guy" from passers-by. Thankfully this begging tradition seems to have died out.

so anyway, this is what this piece represents.

as I have used mostly blacks and browns I am entering it for the created by hand challenge. The image and stamps are all by Inka.

The inchy by inch challenge also has bonfire night as it's theme, so I have made this inchie. The stamp is from a studio g clear set. The date is an office stamp. The eyelet was an accident, it split as I set it with my cropadile, so I decided to just cut some of it off

finally..

I'm so sorry it has took me so long to get round to doing this. This is the result of the final inchie swap. unfortuantely only 6 people took part so I decided to send each participant some of their own back as they could then use them on other projects.
despite the fact their were not many participants, what we did get was some fabulous inchies!
top row :Angela C, Kana Conger, Joanne Wardle
bottom row: Carolyn Reed, valerie myer, Mandy C.

thanks girls for taking part.

inchy by inch : circle. And an inchie update

Fiona's inchie challenge this time is "circles" I'm going to be naughty again, and use some inchies that I made for my swap when that was the theme.

I've just got back from two weeks away, so I'm looking forward to getting back into my crafting. just as soon as all the washing is done!!

I know some of you will be waiting to hear about the last inchie swap (june/july) unfortunately we only had seven participants, but they are gorgeous, I will be uploaded and sending them out soon. I will swap what I can, but you will get some of your own back.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have taken part in my swaps, and for all the lovely gifts I have been sent for doing it. As I've already said. I am stopping the swap for now, but may start it again sometime in the future, if I get enough interest.

my computer isn't working :(

So I am having to use the computer at work, so I can't upload new pictures. so if I want to take part in any challenges I am going to have to use old pictures, which I know is cheating, sorry!!

I wanted to take part in this weeks inchybyinch challenge which is hats. I am using some that I made for a swap last June.
I hope that's okay.

as soon as my computer is replaced, I promise not to cheat any more, lol

cupcake inchies

The theme at small world of inchies and twinchies this week is Cupcakes. I have two cupcake stamps, the smaller one on the right, is from studio g, as is the swirl. this is the one I made first, but this then gave me the idea for my second inchie, which I actually prefer. This stamp is by katie and company. I used the base of the cake and the heart off the top, but replaced the icing with a collage image from Inka taken from the children inchie sheet. The word originally said sweetie and is also on the katie and company stamp, but that wouldn't fit! lol

key inchie

I fancied one more quick challenge today and what could be quicker than inchies? So I had a look over at the inchybyinch challenge and the theme is keys. I don't know who makes this key stamp but the letters are by Studio G. Loads of stuff on this: distress powder, watercolours, chalk ink, brilliance ink, perfect pearls, moonshadow sprays. who'd have thought you could get all that on a one inch square? lol.
I couldn't fit a whole key on so I used two bits of the key instead.
I see the theme at TGIF is also keys so I am entering this for that challenge as well.

bathing beauty inchie

this is one of my inchies for the bathing beauty swap, which now has a new closing date, the end of July. so plenty of time to get those inchies to me! go on!
just email me if you need my address.

My bathing beauty is the classic bathing beauty, the mermaid. I made the background with blue acrylic paint which I stamped over with white acrylic paint using and Inka swish. The letters are from a tiny studio g set. and the mermaid is from ebay and I have no idea who makes it. I painted the mermaid with watercolours, then touched up her hair and tail with perfect pearls.

*******INCHIE UPDATE********

I have two pieces of news about the inchie swap.

1)I have decided to extend the current swap to cover July as well as we haven't had many submissions yet. (In fact I haven't done mine yet- next thing on my list)

so the closing date for the bathing beauties swap is now 31st July.

2) I have decided to have a break from the inchie swap, so this swap will be the last one for now.

June's Inchie swap : bathing beauties

This month's guest artist is Mandy.
here's her bio
I'm Mandy, I live in Derby with my two daughters Lily and Amber. I started stamping 2 years ago and discovered ATC's and since then the mail art world has exploded for me with differents projects. I am enjoying using various types of media at the moment. I recently had my first 'sale' of something I made which was exciting but scary! My fave themes are zetti, fairies (or rather people with wings and crowns!), and Alice in Wonderland. I love bright, colourful pieces of art, and love to blog hop to see what everyone else is making. You can visit my blog at: http://mandysmagicalworldofart.blogspot.com

Mandy has chosen the theme bathing beauties

and here are her gorgeous samples

remember that you can interpret this theme any way you want .

Here are a reminder of the rules of the swap

My May inchies

Here are my inchies for this month's swap with the theme romantic liaisons. I had originally intended to go for a picture of a couple, but then I saw this little love birds stamp from Anita's and had to use it. I have used 3 diferent patterned papers from a laura ashley set.

May's Inchie Swap :romantic liaisons

The Guest Artist for this month's inchie swap is Deb Freeman.
I'm sure lots of you will already be familiar with her blog. Deb makes the most beautiful gentle pieces with a romantic feel, so it seems fitting that she chose the theme romantic liaisons.
This is the inchie she has made for us

This is her introduction to this months swap

I am no expert at making inchies, in fact to say I avoid them is an understatement so when Joanne asked me to be guest designer this month you could have knocked me down with a feather. I could have refused and run for cover but I saw it as a personal challenge so I do hope you like my chosen theme of ‘romantic liaisons’.

Thank you for the invite Joanne.
